Matt Cross competes in NCAA 3 national championship

2008 graduate, Bobcat Captain and Maryland State Champion, Matt Cross, is competing this weekend in the NCAA Division 3 National Championships in LaCrosse Wisconsin. Mr. Cross wrestles in the 174lb weight class for coach Brunk at Messiah College in Harrisburg, Pa. He was 2nd in his conference and earned a coaches vote in bid to the national tourney. Steve, his brother, graduated from Bel Air in 2011 and was 2nd in the state, while little brother John currently wrestles for the Bobcats and was 6th in the state this past season.

Ryan Beveridge (120) got the cats started with a 10-1 victory over Zito from CMW to move on to the consolation semi finals. Jeff Taylor (132) defeated Roderick (S Decatur) 4-3 to advance to the finals. John Cross (152) lost his semi finals match to Alderman (Meade). Domimc Williams (182) pinned his opponent in the third period of the consolation quaters. Ryan Beveridge lost his consolation semi final round, John Cross defeated his opponent from Stephen Decatur and Dominic Williams lost to Atholton. Ryan Beveridge earns 6th place. Cross earns 4th and Williams takes 6th.

The pig tail round is over, the Bobcats put up a good fight but ended up 0-2. Cyler Crawford 195 had his opponent on his back as time ran out, falling short 7-5. Tyler Touhy got taken down with 2 seconds remaining in the match resulting in a 8-7 loss. The first round has started Ryan beveridge (120) lost a hard fought battle by a fall. Jeff Taylor (132) wins his first round match 10-1. John Cross (152) wins with a first period fall. William Holder-Moore (171) pinned his first opponent in lieu of a tech fall in the second period. Dominic Williams (182) lost his match 16-8.

Regional Tournament seeding

Dual Meet competition is over, the Conference Tournament is over, now we are in the qualifier tournaments.  The Bobcats have 7 wrestlers qualify for the 3a-4a East Regional Tournament.  Ryan Beverdige (120), Jeff Taylor (132), John Cross (152), William Holder-Moore (170), Dominc Williams (182), Clyer Crawford (195) and Tyler Touhy (285).  The tournament starts on Friday afternoon and is located at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia.  Tournament info can be found

'Cats finish 3rd at UCBAC

The Bobcats hosted the UCBAC tournament for the second year in a row and fell just short of another title.  Amassing 155.5 points over the 2 day tournament which was .5 points behind 2nd Place Rising Sun (156.0) and 8 points behind Champion Fallstion (163.5).  William Holder-Moore (170) was the teams only champion, pining his Elkton opponent in the finals.  Jeff Taylor and John Cross battled to 2nd place finishes, while Cyler Crawford (195) and Tyler Tuohy (285) earned 4th place finishes.  If 5th place for the 'Cats was Ryan Beveridge (120) and Cameron Watts (138) while

UCBAC Weekend at Bel Air

Bel Air will be the host of both the JV UCBAC and Varsity UCBAC (Upper Chesepeake Bay Area Conference) Tournaments.  Thursday, 3pm - 9pm, a madison style 4-man bracket torunament providing Harford County's Junior Varsity wrestlers 3 matches in the last night of competition.

Cats Top Perryville 49-25

William Holder-Moore hits a switch

In the Bobcats Second and last home dual meet of the week/season, we came up big against a great opponennt in Perryville.  Senior night was highlighted by a 49-25 win and a great bout between Jeff Taylor and Amos Harlan.  Captain Jeff Taylor bumped up to face Harlan at the 138lb weight class where he took Harlan into Overtime, but lost on a tough takedown, 6-4.
